Popping Biscuits

Trick or Treat?

If you find your little ones coming knocking on your kitchen door for a tasty treat on Halloween how about making them some home made Popping Biscuits.  With no refined sugar these biscuits are the ideal snack for any weaning child...or peckish adult for that matter!

Popping Biscuits

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Makes 8 – 10 biscuits

100g oats
100g self raising flour
50g dried fruit; e.g. raisins, sultanas
30g rice crispies
170ml apple or grape juice
Optional 1 Tbsp runny honey

1.      Mix all the dry ingredients together, including the dried fruit and stir well
2.      Gradually pour in the juice and stir until a sticky dough forms.  At this point you should hear the snap crackle and pop of the rice crispies
3.      Place the dough onto a floured surface and roll out
4.      Cut out your chosen shapes using pastry/cookie cutters and place onto a greased baking tray
5.      Pop onto the oven for about 25 - 30 minutes or until they are golden brown

Tip: Make sure your rolling pin is floured too
